At Fast Manta Diving Krabi, safety is not just a box we tick—it’s the foundation of everything we do.
PADI rescue practice

At Fast Manta Diving Krabi, safety is not just a box we tick—it’s the foundation of everything we do. Whether you’re a Divemaster candidate, a newly certified instructor, or a boat crew member supporting divers from the surface, rescue skills are essential to handle any emergency situation with confidence and care.

That’s why we regularly conduct full-staff rescue training days on our local dive sites—ensuring that every team member is trained, refreshed, and ready to act when it matters most.

The Importance of Rescue Skills in Professional Diving

If you’re working towards becoming a PADI Divemaster or Instructor, one of the most critical steps in your professional training is the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course teaches you to look beyond yourself and begin thinking like a dive leader—someone who can anticipate problems, prevent incidents, and react quickly and effectively in case of an emergency.

During the Rescue Diver course, divers learn how to:

  • Recognize diver stress before it becomes a problem
  • Respond to tired or panicked divers at the surface
  • Search for and recover a missing diver
  • Bring an unconscious diver safely to the surface
  • Provide rescue breaths in-water (1 breath every 5 seconds)
  • Tow and exit a diver safely from the water
  • Manage emergency scenarios and oxygen delivery on land and boat

These skills are not just checklists—they are real-life tools that can save lives. And like all professional skills, they must be practiced regularly.

Staff Rescue Training at Fast Manta Diving Krabi

Just a few days ago, our entire team took part in a full-day rescue training session at one of our nearby islands. Even though many of our team members are already experienced divers or instructors, continuous refresher training ensures we’re always sharp, calm, and confident in an emergency.

Here’s what we practiced:

Missing Diver Search Patterns – quick and coordinated underwater responses with a surface watch and signal communication.

Unconscious Diver Rescue – bringing an unresponsive diver from depth to the surface safely and providing in-water rescue breaths.

Boat Exits with Unconscious Diver – using correct lifting and teamwork techniques to get the diver on board smoothly without injury.

Emergency Oxygen Administration – correct flow rates, mask choices, and first responder protocols.

Surface Watch & Boat Crew Roles – understanding how non-diving staff can support the team with timely reactions, diver tracking, and emergency communications.

Everyone on the Boat Is Part of the Safety Team

At Fast Manta, we believe that safety is a team effort. This is why every single person on board—whether a professional diver or not—must be trained and prepared. From the captain to our boat assistants, every crew member plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our guests.

Our boat crew are trained to:

  • Keep a constant lookout for divers at the surface
  • Recognize emergency signals and diver stress signs
  • Support rescues by preparing oxygen or assisting with exits
  • Know exactly who to call and what to do if something goes wrong

Regular drills ensure these protocols are second nature.

Setting the Standard in Krabi

As Krabi’s first PADI Eco Dive Center and a 5-Star IDC, we set high expectations for ourselves—and safety is one of the most important standards we uphold.

💡 Did you know?

We include extra emergency skills refreshers as part of our Divemaster and Instructor internships and encourage all team members to treat rescue practice as part of their monthly routine—not just a one-time certification.

Because when something goes wrong on a dive, you don’t want to think—you want to act. And that kind of confidence only comes from practice.
