What Is the PADI Rescue Diver Course?
In short, the Rescue Diver course teaches you how to prevent and manage dive emergencies, both minor and major. You’ll learn to recognize signs of stress in yourself and others, respond effectively, and handle scenarios ranging from tired divers at the surface to full-on rescue situations.
This course is often described as challenging but extremely fun, and we fully agree. With the right instruction, support, and a little bit of humor, you’ll come out of it a safer, more capable diver—and a better buddy, too.
Even if it sounds serious (and yes, there are moments when it is), we make sure the experience stays engaging, positive, and fun. At Fast Manta, you’ll laugh, learn, and grow alongside your fellow divers—and probably make a few new friends in the process.
What’s Included in the Course at Fast Manta?
At Fast Manta Diving Krabi, we keep our groups small and personal. That means more attention, more hands-on practice, and more time to build real skills.

Do I Need First Aid Training?
Yes—but don’t worry if you haven’t done it yet.
To become a Rescue Diver, you need a valid Emergency First Response (EFR) certificate—this means you’ve completed a CPR and first aid course within the last 24 months. If you haven’t done one yet (or if your certification has expired), we’ve got you covered!
We can integrate the EFR course into your training, making it a 3-day package instead of 2.

Q: Is the course physically demanding?
A: It’s not about being the strongest—it’s about staying calm, thinking clearly, and learning techniques. We tailor scenarios to your fitness level and goals.
Q: Do I need to be an Advanced Open Water Diver?
A: Yes. Participant must have a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent certification from another recognized scuba diving training organization. Junior divers need to have completed the Underwater Navigation Dive as part of the PADI Adventure Diver program.
Q: Can I do this course as part of my Divemaster training?
A: Absolutely. Many of our Divemaster candidates do their Rescue Diver course with us before or during the professional pathway.
